Allison Rodgers Photography has agreed to partner with the Mid-South Love Home to take portraits of the moms and babies that we minister to! What a priceless gift she is giving! Tiffany and Cayla had their session two weeks ago and it was amazing to watch Allison and Robyn Smith work with them. They were so kind and gentle and made Tiffany feel so special. Allison spent so much time working with Cayla to get amazing pictures. She never once rushed or acted like this was a "complimentary sessions". Then, the pictures...oh my goodness! PRICELESS!!!
USCGA has chosen the MSLH as their charity for this season. Thanks to Scott Young for putting us in the runnings and going to bat for us! Today, they had their opening round and I was able to share for a few minutes to let the members know more about what we do. I was able to take a couple of our girls with us and a couple of my boys went too! (PICTURES BELOW) We had a wonderful time and a great lunch! We had fun sitting in the clubhouse visiting after they went to play golf! This was the first time Grant and Ty met girl #3 and she met them! It was a blast of a day and the board blessed the girls with a goodie basket...a laundry basket size goodie basket!! It was perfect and was absolutely great timing for Tiandra! Why? Because of blessing #3!!!
Tiandra and Jacob moved into their very own apartment today! (PICTURES BELOW) The basket was full of practical things she needed like toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry detergent, first aid kit, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc!!!! Grant and Ty loaded our trailer with a bed we had that we weren't using and a portable crib that was given to the Love Home and some sheets, towels, pillows, etc. that she needed and we made our way to her apartment. Tiandra specifically said that she wished she had stayed with us until now! Unfortunately, since she left the Love Home, she has lived wherever she could find to lay her head (with a newborn) and we had to go all over Memphis collecting her things. We finally made it to her apartment and moved her in! The things we brought are the only things she has! I am going to be posting a call for help on my facebook page because she needs some furniture, pots, pans, etc. But, it was a huge step for Tiandra on her road to independence. She has spent most of her teenage years running from place to place with nowhere to call home. She finally has a home! She has a temporary job and she is still trying to make time to go take her GED or whatever they call it now! I am very proud of her!!!
I now have permission to share more with you about our precious girl #3! Her name is Brittany and she is a junior at Southaven High School. She is 13 weeks pregnant. (PICTURES BELOW) Her mom is incredibly supportive of her but is a single mom and needs help. We are coming alongside Brittany and her family to just be more supporters in her life! She is about to receive her One-by-One mentor and we are working to connect her with Teen Plus! She is receiving all of her prenatal care from the wonderful ministry The Morning Center and has done great so far. She is a hard worker at school and she has a very bright future ahead of her! We are honored to be involved in her life and the life of her family!!
Not many people really understand what the ministry of the Love Home looks like fleshed out! It is just doing life with the girls that God brings to us and loving on them with the love of Christ. We are thankful to those of you who take the time to read these blogs, pray for this ministry, and share our information with others who may also want to come alongside us! Thank you!
